The aim is to establish a user-driven effort
to map the world (or at least parts of it).
The result will be free, digital thematic maps
containing geographic and temporal data on any
land features that people decide to map.
This may include natural landmarks, cities
or even pubs in your local area.

This site is dedicated to the issue of public access to government
geospatial data across Canada. It is a place to discuss, issues, educate,
coordinate and encourage change. Promotes the idea of free distribution of
canadian governmental geographic data. Free in this case basically means at
no charge though more comments are being made on the importance of "liberty"
as well as "no charge".

This efford tries to digitize the streets of Oslo, Norway
with GPSs to offer it as Free Geographic Information
(planned is GPL as license). The map shows the lines
logged by volunteers (each one will have his own color)
underlayed with a proprietary map.

FGS is a project pulling together various other projects (most of them are listed on freegis.org) into an easily redistributable package. First target platform is Linux on intel x86 architecture. Second target will be windows.

The Community Map Builder allows users to enter geographic features in a web browser, save it to a server along with other features, then present the features back as a map layer in a web browser.
